As distance learning is now highly expanding through the world, all Higher Education Institutions are concerned with ensuring the quality of their provisions in this format. In Switzerland, with the coming accreditation of higher education institution under the new Higher Education Act (HEdA), it will be necessary for Higher Education Institutions to develop specific procedures to integrate online provisions in their internal quality assurance system, in order to be able to prove that quality of distance learning is under control. On the basis of the many reflexions and concretisations that have been done already in Switzerland, Europe and further, sharing practices and experiences is a way to boost and facilitate the work of each HEI in this field.
